ZOMBIES FOR THE WIN!
I love Zombie movies—and what type of red-blooded American male doesn’t spend a significant amount of time preparing for his eventual turn against these monsters?
I’ll be honest: while I’m sure I could survive the coming Zombie apocalypse, I’ve always taken my stance on such things from the George Carlin school of thought.
The Last of Us: I’m calling it early, folks. This show is fucking epic, and it gets me motivated to go back to the range. I love the main character and would gladly fucking slay these ugly little motherfuckers with her.
Black Summer—Until the Last of Us, I didn’t think it would get much better than this intense show, which tragically got canceled after two seasons. I love that all the characters on this show because they’re all in it for one thing: their survival.
The 28 Days Movies—28 Days Later is superior to 28 Weeks Later. However, I feel confident that 28 Years Later might surpass all of them. Set in the United Kingdom, this intense movie is funny, scary, and gory! Plus, isn’t everything better with a British accent?
The Night Eats the World - This is an underrated recent Zombie film. The star wakes up trapped in a new world and is basically alone and unafraid. As you can see from the clip below, the Zombies got sot some brains on them—always a bad sign for your survival.
Train to Busan - I usually don’t watch foreign Zombie films. I’m sorry, but the last thing I want to do while getting my gore on is reading lines at the speed of light. However, Train to Busan is worth the effort—and I’ve been to Busan, Korea! Lovely place!
The Girl with All the Gifts: this is another Zombie film where everyone gets infected because of spores/fungi. At first, I didn’t like it that much, but while this film isn’t nearly as gory as others, I think the ending makes up for some of the issues with the plot line.
Honorable Mention: I’m not a huge fan of the Walking Dead cinematic universe. I stopped watching after season 4 or 5. Seriously, somebody get these folks out of Georgia! Nevertheless, I’ve been enjoying the newest (how many are there now?) spinoff from the franchise, The Ones Who Live.
