BADASS WAR MOVIES!
Look, let’s get real. Sometimes, you just want to watch a bunch of guys kill people without much of a plot. Let’s all hold hands while we ponder what that means about us and our place in the universe.
Feel better?
Humans like to kill. I hate to tell you that, but that’s the truth. Do you know how I know? Because I like to kill evil humans. It’s just part of my charm, I suppose.
Anyway, let’s marvel at some of the most amazing fucking badass war movies where the US always wins because we’re FUCKING AMAZING!
Commando: Sweet baby Jesus! This is ARNOLD IN FULL. Imagine the amount of streoids he was injecting while making this film. It is truly a testament to one man dedication to acting.
Rambo III: I don’t give a shit what you say. This is a fucking masterpiece. We help the Muj defeat the Soviets! I’m all for letting us spike the football without remembering the following clusterfuck called the American War in Afghanistan! Woohoo!
Warfare: Holy motherfucking shit, did someone finally do combat some justice! I watched this epic film in the back of a very nice movie theatre in Austin, Texas. I do believe the people next to me were about to ask the attendants about me because I was fucking into it! Bonus, I was in Iraq in 2006! Fuck yeah! What a fucking G*d damn shit show that was!
4. Predators: Shut the fuck up! Seriously. This is a G*d damn masterpiece in small-unit tactics and underscores the proliferation of steroids throughout Hollywood during Ronald Regan’s glory years! USA! USA! USA!
Iron Eagle—Sweet baby Jesus, is this thing vintage? Bruh, I remember watching this as a kid and thinking, “So, I find a full-bird Colonel to teach me to fly, and then I just steal an Air Force fighter plane, and I can start my own war?”
Honorable Mention: Pumping Iron. How does it relate to badass Schwarzenegger war movies? This is what guys do when they’re at war and not fighting — they work out.

Reflections on Leadership
(GCV 6 Note: On my second deployment to Afghanistan, a young Afghan stood up during a Shura to thank me for something. I tried to stop the young man, but a Village Elder told me, “Tooran Will, you must let us thank you, or you rob of us of that.”)

GCV 6 OUT!
I didn't go see Warfare in theaters b/c I was worried about how I'd handle it in public given my experiences (I've heard they did a very good job with the film though). Will def watch it when it hits streaming. I did my tours in Iraq from '05-'08 (Al Anbar province) so I imagine the scene and kit in the film are going to look a lot like what my experiences/memories are made of.
This tells me I MUST go watch Warfare. Somehow, I have not seen it. Between Commando and Predator, war must be totally covered, and the cliches are eternal. "Sully, you remember when I told you I wouldn't kill you? I lied." Plus Alyssa Milano as his daughter, and Rae Dawn Chong.
