Howdy,
I’m still busier than a one-legged man in ass kicking contest. Sheesh!
It’s a busy week, as the motley crew here at GCV rendezvous in DC to support the Afghan United Front’s First Afghan US Summit. You can catch it live on the AUF’s YouTube Channel (fancy) https://www.youtube.com/@AFGUnitedFront.
If you watch this summit, you’ll catch
and speaking eloquently and forcefully on America’s misadventure in Afghanistan. While we mourn and remember Afghanistan, it’s also time to start thinking about its future. We must speak truthfully and forthrightly about America’s betrayal of itself, its combat veterans, and its Afghan allies. Not just because it’s the truth but because once we talk truthfully and honestly about what happened, we can all approach the problem with the same reality.
The Taliban and Al Qaeda are the rulers of Afghanistan. Yes, Al Qaeda is alive and well. It did not regenerate after we left. It was there the entire time, just away from our spying eyes. Al Qaeda and the Taliban study us intensely. They’re intelligent and adaptive enemies who will change tactics to elude our intelligence assets. Just because our intelligence community says something doesn’t automatically make it accurate.
Again, just because Al Qaeda has not conducted a 9-11 style attack in decades doesn’t mean they’ve been defeated. The fact that we can even entertain such nonsense after they and their Pakistani handlers defeated the United States less than three years ago tells you everything you need to know about the state of our foreign policy discussions.
The fact remains that the groups that murdered 3,000 Americans on 9-11 are now stronger than ever before. They have all the American military equipment we left behind. Plus, they have Pakistani, Iranian, Russian, and Chinese enablers who are helping them hunt our Afghan allies.
Three years ago, our enemies humiliated us on the battlefield. But that’s not the end of the story. It’s not too late to do the right thing. It’s time to help our Afghan allies regain what’s rightfully theirs.
Join us in our fight against the Taliban and Al Qaeda’s gender apartheid regime. Free Afghanistan!
Voices of the Resistance
At the end of the day, the Taliban and Al Qaeda’s days are numbered. We’re going to do everything we can to hasten that day. Accordingly, we’re starting a new podcast series, Voices of the Resistance, which will run inside Stories from My Brothers, Tales of the Afghan Security Forces. The aim is to elevate the voices of those Afghans who are resisting the Taliban and Al Qaeda’s rule. That can range from resistance fighters to female activists and everything in between.
Here’s our first clip, with our good friend, Shuja Jamal, discussing the Doha Agreement.
Many thanks to
, who did an excellent job putting together all the graphics and artwork. He’s an Afghan refugee who came here three years ago and is now part of our team. We’re incredibly grateful to have him here at GCV+F.We’re all so grateful to have you, zmoog Andiwalaan (Pashto: our people)
Hope’s Corner
Helai Khurshid, who now has her own column ‘Hope’s Corner,’ is out with another piece focusing on Kimia Yousofi.
One day, Afghan women, not only Kimia, will stand firm and demand their rights. One day, we will get what we deserve. We will take everything back from which the Taliban stole from us.
Kimia, myself, Afghan women, and their supporters will break this cage of ignorance and injustice!
Just a reminder: No Daily Rants on Wednesday. But don’t worry; we have a few things lined up for you, regardless.
Until Next Time.
