I’m a double-hater. I come from a long line of double-haters. My father was a double-hater. His father was a double hater.
Now, I’ve been going pretty hard on Democrats as of late. It’s not because I’m some type of Trump fluffer, like some of my detractors might say, on the hell hole formerly known as Twitter. (Substack Notes is getting better. How’s Blue Sky?) I go hard at Democrats because I want them to win.
And let’s face it, my friends at
don’t need any help daily skewering Trump. So, I go hard at Dems because they need tough love if they’re going to win in 2026. While I don’t begrudge anyone for who they support, I think it’s high time we do a little dunking on President Trump because dear, sweet baby Jesus, does he deserve it. For my Democratic friends who’ve endured me thumping on them for a bit, this playlist is for you. Enjoy. The Last 7 Days
And I could play some more tunes, but these stories should trouble all of us, even if you pulled the lever for President Trump. This isn’t exactly what I would call confidence-inspiring moments for President Trump.
Let’s Try and Remember What Trump’s Primary Opponents Said About Him
I would’ve voted for ANY of these people over Harris. Blah, blah, blah, I don’t want to hear the lectures. I have my reasons, and they center around Afghanistan and the brothers and sisters I lost in a war that nobody gives two shits about anymore.
Sorry. I feel better.
Let’s take my favorite nominee: Will Hurd from El Paso. For the love of all that is holy, what is not to like about this guy?
Of course, since I supported him, he went the way of all my other favorite GOP candidates not named John McCain. (I still heart you, Jon Huntsman, and your excellent Mandarin Chinese).
The point of this little trip down memory lane is that the party that truly deserves the blame for the last week is the GOP. For nearly a decade, Trump ran roughshod over the party, and most of them chose to make their peace with Trumpism as long as they received their favorite policy proposal. And so be it; that’s how politics usually works in our primary system.
However, Trump 2.0 is different from Trump 1.0 because this time, he’s angry, he has no qualms, and he’s more powerful today than ever before in his lifetime. He’s got a supportive Supreme Court, a Congress ready to block and tackle, and a national security state being diminished as we speak.
So, on this day, April 3, 2025, I wish to predict my choice for the most cowardly American political act of the early 21st century. I might be wrong, but I feel confident about my chances.
Cue The Wire:
Good luck, America.
And Trump set up the 2020 Doha deal in autumn with the Taliban without including the elected Afghan government - the deal that gave the Taliban so much encouraged agent and time, maybe resources, that they took back the country in August 2921 —
—was Biden unable to orient that after only 6 months in power or was it all secret from Biden/US/Cooslition and too late?
Either way we are still not protecting many Afghans who trusted the American promise - if Afghans risked their lives getting al Queda out of Afghan caves, the Au’s would help Afghans build an elected government and end dictatorial rule by Taliban
