Remembering the Other 7 October Anniversary
23 Years Later and Nobody Remembers the Invasion of Afghanistan
Twenty-three years ago, the United States invaded Afghanistan, quickly toppling the Taliban, Al Qaeda, and their Pakistani stooges from power. Now, however, this anniversary has been eclipsed by Hamas’ pogrom on the Jewish people.
Nevertheless, I doubt that anyone will write wistfully about such halcyon days. According to VP Kamala Harris, Americans are no longer at war, which is news to American soldiers in Iraq, Syria, and Jordan. The invasion of Afghanistan will fall into the ashbin of history, likely only to be studied by ambitious American officers pining to rewrite a narrative that absolves the armed forces from crafting an incompetent strategy that the Taliban destroyed.
Don’t worry—the Taliban and Al Qaeda remember. Here’s a short essay from their English website.
The two-decade-long invasion led by United States of Afghanistan, which began on October 7, 2001, has left a trail of destruction, casualties, displacements, and significant infrastructure damage. This 21 years long period of aggression has been hard time for Afghan Mujahid Nation.
One of the primary crime of the U.S. in Afghanistan is the staggering human cost. The invasion has brought a tremendous number of casualties on Afghan civilians. The toll on civilian lives has been particularly devastating, with thousands martyred or injured in indiscriminate bombings, drone strikes, night raids and ground operations. The loss of innocent lives and the suffering inflicted on Afghan communities cannot be overstated.
Moreover, the prolonged military invasion has led to widespread displacement within Afghanistan. Millions of Afghans have been uprooted from their homes, forced to seek refuge in other parts of the country or become refugees in neighboring nations. The displacement of populations has created a humanitarian crisis, straining resources and exacerbating the already challenging living conditions for many Afghans.
The U.S. led invasion in Afghanistan has also caused significant infrastructure destruction. Schools, hospitals, roads, and other essential facilities have been damaged or destroyed during the 21 years long invasion, hindering the country’s development and recovery efforts. The destruction of infrastructure has had lasting repercussions on the Afghan population, impacting their access to education, healthcare, and other vital services.
The U.S. invasion of Afghanistan, on the pre text of terrorism, has contributed to a cycle of violence, instability, and suffering. The strategies employed during the invasion, including drone strikes, night raids, and air campaigns, have strongly condemned for their impact on innocent civilian population.
In conclusion, the U.S. role in the 20-year-long invasion of Afghanistan has been marred by significant shortcomings and failures. The immense human cost, displacement of populations, and infrastructure destruction highlight the extent of crime they committed against Afghan Mujahid Nation, which resulted in strongest responce from Afghan Nation and ultimately fored the invaders to expelled from afghanistan what ever the cost may be.
Here is the Taliban’s English website.
Here in the land of the free and ignorant, most Americans have effortlessly turned the page from the Global War on Terrorism (GWOT). President Joe Biden correctly believed that nobody would blink an eye at the CIA working with the Taliban. VP Kamala Harris, on the other hand, is blessed to face an ignoramus who can’t quite string together enough sentences to attack his nemesis for her role in the abandonment of Afghan women. Don’t worry; I’m sure the Democrats will start protecting these women of color any day now.
My ire isn’t just directed at Biden, but I hold him and his supporters to a higher standard, considering they like to bill themselves as “standing for freedom.” What a bunch of horseshit. Republicans, who long ago sold their souls to the Orange God King, are on solid ground attacking Biden’s retreat but curiously refuse to criticize America’s Afghan policy from 2016 to 2020.
Truthfully, both parties are abhorrent allies. Republicans support Israel. Democrats support Ukraine. But both of them abandoned our Afghan allies to a gender apartheid regime. Luckily for our elected “leaders,” Americans’ collective memory is no bigger than a family of gnats. Thus, both sides lob salvos at one another for not being steadfast enough, even though they are awash in the blood of innocent Afghans.
The fact that nobody even remembers the invasion of Afghanistan perfectly illustrates the sorry state of American society. While both parties lob salvos at Benjamin Netanyahu and Volodymyr Zelenskyy, they lack the self-awareness to realize that America has no room to criticize anyone’s war, considering Iran, Pakistan, the Taliban, and Al Qaeda defeated them in Iraq and Afghanistan.
FWIW, The U.S. government is doing what governments the world over have done since the days of the Egyptian and Babylonian empires. As allies of King George in the Hundred Year's War we were repaid with the loss of land after helping in the defeat of the French in Canada. As allies of the United States at the Battle of Horseshoe Bend we were treated to devastating losses of land and equipment as General Jackson's troops returned across our land on their way back to Tennessee, plundering as they went. And later, President Jackson completed the plunder by removing us to I.T. - there is nothing new under the sun.
We are a nation of willfully uninformed sheep.
