Howdy,
I’m sure nobody saw this little piece of heaven recently.
It’s amazing. It’s hilarious. It’s moronic. And, most importantly, it’s total bullshit.
When I write about the Taliban and Al Qaeda, I approach the subject from a place of experience. Deputy Director David Cohen is a fine family man and loves his country. But he doesn’t have the background on this subject, having never served in Afghanistan nor been inside the intelligence community as anything other than a lawyer. Sorry. It’s different, bruh.
Usually, I would try to give you all the details, but luckily, the GOAT,

In the latest effort by US officials to simp for the Taliban, David Cohen, the deputy director of the CIA, claims the Taliban has “taken on the effort to combat” Al Qaeda. Cohen is wrong, of course, as there have been exactly zero reported Taliban operations targeting Al Qaeda’s network in Afghanistan. In fact, all available evidence shows that the Taliban’s ties to Al Qaeda have increased dramatically since the US withdrawal in August 2021.
I have a lot of friends at the agency. There are a lot of great Americans serving inside those walls. Look, I’ve served alongside the agency my entire career. Great Americans. But this guy is dead wrong. And if that’s the attitude of the Biden administration, then every American should fear for their safety.
But at least the world’s worst-kept secret is out in the open.
Ladies and Gentlemen, the American government is working with the Taliban. The very people who murdered 2,000 Americans. They’re no longer weighing working with the Taliban. They’re doing it.
“We have been engaging with them, throughout this period, in various ways, as they have taken on the effort to combat both Al Qaeda and ISIS-K,” Cohen said[.] “And so this isn’t a 'mission accomplished' sort of thing. But it is worth noting that the dire predictions have not come to pass in Afghanistan today,” he said.
So, the CIA is working with someone who is still wanted by the FBI?
Per “the dire” predictions quote, here are some headlines.
When we talk about moral injury, this is what I’m talking about.
Why is the Biden administration working with people who tried to kill me for 20 years?
It’s such a betrayal that it covers the sun.
A Combat Interpreter
We had an incredible conversation with Nasirullah John Safi, an American hero. My brother, John, served over a decade as a combat interpreter with some of America’s most elite units. He fought alongside Medal of Honor recipient Dakota Meyer at COB Keating.
The full episode drops next Tuesday. But in this clip, John talks about how the Taliban has always hunted America’s combat interpreters.
My brother, John, has a couple of books you should buy:

This is one of our best episodes.

A Good Cause
Yeah, I buried the headline until last so you would read it. Sue me. :)
Anyway, there’s a great GoFundMe site up and running.
My name is Nejrat, a close friend of Poya for over 10 years. We studied at the same pilot academy in Afghanistan.
Abdulhai Poya and his wife, Parisa, arrived in the United States as refugees from Afghanistan in April 2024 with their two children, Sorhaib and Afnan. Poya was a military pilot in Afghanistan who flew helicopters, training alongside the US pilots. He resettled in the US and is excited to build a life in Rhode Island.
On August 17, 2024, Poya suffered a heart attack and was taken to the hospital. He remains in a coma and we are raising funds to help support Parisa through this time. The funds will go towards Poya's medical bills, as well as to help cover other expenses that the family is facing (such as rent, food, other bills, and childcare).
All funds will go to Parisa to be used to cover these expenses and to have money set aside as they face the challenges ahead. We are grateful for any and all donations for Poya and his family.
If you have the spare cash.
The Afghan Air Force (AAF) was a lethal force that operated at the tip of the spear in the Global War on Terrorism (GWOT). Our prayers are with Poya and his family.
