I received this information from a trusted Afghan ally, so you can count on it. I never met Usman, but I’ve agreed to write a eulogy of him, on behalf of the American federal government who betrayed him and his fellow countrymen.
It is the greatest stain on President Biden’s presidency and liberals better start owning it because you’re going to lose another generation of combat veterans unless you start owning up to it.
Usman hailed from Takhar Province, and was married with six beautiful children that were the apple of his eyes, like they are for every American combat veteran.
He served in 207th Zafar Army Corps in Herat as an infantrymen and later worked under General Agrhandiwal, as the Chief of Staff’s Office Director. Tragically, due to the lack of a clear future of his immigration case and extreme financial hardship, he decided to hang himself.
His name was Usman. He served under the 207 Army Corps and he fucking hung himself because we fucking betrayed him.
He messaged his friend desperately many times. His friend had made it to safer shores and now lives with survivor’s guilt, something I know quite a bit about.
This voice message haunts his friend:
“While I’m alive, I’m of no use to you , and none of you do anything for me. When I’m gone, when I no longer exist, go ahead and burn my corpse—violate it if you must.”
His friend is haunted by these questions:
Why are we so blind to the pain our friends carry inside them?
Why do we ignore their cries until it’s too late?
We fail them not because we don’t care—but because we don’t listen it mattered most.
There are no words that any American can write to try and mend this burned bridge. This man’s family has every fucking reason to hate us, now. Thanks, a lot, America for heaving this shit on America’s combat veteran population.
I shouldn’t be the one writing this. Usman should be with his family in Afghanistan, standing proudly with his brothers trying to rebuild a country savaged by 40 years of war.
And what did we do? We grew bored. Then we blamed these fucking people for losing a war our own military couldn’t win.
Shame on everything single one of us — Democrat and Republican alike.
We. Are. All. To. Blame. For. Afghanistan.
Losing a war, like losing a continent, has consequences. Don't ask me how I know, I just remember the history of my little nation.
As an Australian I, and my country, also carry the guilt (whether we know it/accept it or not)
