Anti-Natalist Suspected of Deadly Car Bombing Outside Fertility Clinic
Keep Your Head on a Swivel
On 17 May 2025, a car bomb exploded outside a Palm Spring, CA Fertility clinic, killing one person and injuring four. Guy Edward Bartkus, an anti-natalist, is believed to have detonated the car bomb, which killed him.
During a Sunday press conference, authorities said Bartkus wanted to livestream the attack. The blast occurred around 11 am, and was supposed to target a clinic named American Reproductive Center. The explosion damaged multiple buildings in the area, with a blast radius of 250 feet.
The FBI has classified the explosion that occurred at 1199 North Indian Canyon Drive around 11 a.m. as an act of terrorism, according to city officials. This area has several medical facilities, including Desert Regional Medical Center.
Authorities are currently searching for a manifesto related to the incident. The assailant, a 29-year-old with a history of depression, is from Twentynine Palms, where law enforcement officials searched his residence.
GCV 6 Note: Although anti-natalists are not commonly linked to domestic terrorist attacks, they tend to view the world through a nihilistic lens, often influenced by the literature they read. The main point of concern is not merely that he identifies as an anti-natalist but instead that he was able to create a powerful car bomb. This highlights the proliferation of car bomb-making materials and resources available online.
The internet is a marvelous resource for people who delight in this sort of action. Back in the day I recall reading the Anarchist Cookbook for suggestions and today anyone contemplating similar action regardless of political outlook can get updated information at the speed of light.
My recollection is that a rental truck full of fertilizer took out the federal building in Oklahoma City so the only safety relies on banning rental trucks and fertilizer. Good luck with that approach. Sleep well tonight, homeland security is in the incapable hands of Ms. Noem.
