Dear Madam Vice President Kamala Harris,
My name is Aqsa, and I’m an 11-year-old blogger and writer from Afghanistan. I live in Arlington, Virginia. Today, I’m writing to you with all the hope and courage I can muster because I need you to know just how much you mean to me—and to so many others like me.
Ms. Harris, you are a light in the darkness for girls like me who dare to dream of a better future. I believe in you with all my heart. I cannot follow all of America’s election news because I am in school. But I am planning to search on google at the end of the day on Nov 5th, "Who is the President of the United States?" the answer must be KAMALA HARRIS.
But I’m scared, Ms. Harris. I’m scared because if Trump becomes president again, our lives could be torn apart. He wants to send immigrants back to their countries. That thought terrifies me because if my family is sent back to Afghanistan, my father’s dreams of becoming an Air Force Officer and serving in the US military will die. My dreams will be shattered, too. I won’t be able to get an education under the Taliban's barbaric rule, and I’ll never be able to become the first Afghan astronaut like I dream of being. My future—and the future of so many others—hangs in the balance, Ms. Harris.
Please, Ms. Harris, don’t let Trump win. Don’t let the fear he spreads take away the dreams of millions of children like me. You can do this. We believe in you. We’re counting on you to stand up for what’s right and to remind everyone that America is the land of immigrants. It’s a place where people from all over the world come to find hope, safety, and a future. Even Trump’s ancestors came here from another country—how can he forget that?
Ms. Harris, you are our last hope. You’re fighting not just for yourself but for all of us who see America as our home, our chance, our only hope for a better life. Please keep going. Keep inspiring us. Keep showing us that dreams can come true, no matter where we come from or what challenges we face.
I pray for you to become president, not just for me but for every immigrant, child, and dreamer who looks up to you and believes that America can still be a land of opportunity.
With all my love and hope,
Aqsa
Aqsa, There are many of us who are praying with you. We want the dreams of you and your family to come true. Your dreams are part of our dreams. We don't want the kind of world that Trump and his followers are proposing. We want a world where Love leads us. We want a generous, inclusive world. We want a world where sharing is the highest standard. You are in my heart.
Beautiful!!! We are praying right along with you Aqsa. Thank you for your tribute and I'm praying for your family as well. 🙏❤️🇺🇸💙
